Redefining Life After Diagnosis


The BGF GEETA Centers, located in Los Angeles and Madrid, are specialized day centers for children and adults affected by brain tumors. They have been created to complement hospital care by providing a comprehensive, human-centered environment where well-being, recovery and quality of life remain the priority long after medical treatment.


Each center brings together a multidisciplinary team of neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuropsychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and other specialized professionals, working collaboratively to support patients throughout every stage of their recovery. Every discipline developed within the BGF GEETA Centers is directly or indirectly focused on enhancing neuroplasticity, promoting physical, cognitive and emotional recovery, and improving the quality of life of people living with brain tumors.


The BGF GEETA Centers combine specialized support with therapeutic programs and carefully designed activities that stimulate the body, mind and emotions. These include rehabilitation programs, cognitive stimulation, artistic disciplines, cultural activities, as well as excursions and experiences in nature and with animals, embracing the well-recognized therapeutic benefits they provide for physical, emotional and social well-being.


The Centers also organize art exhibitions, cultural initiatives and community activities in the cities that support Brains Get Famous, bringing together local artists alongside members of the BGF artistic community. These initiatives encourage creativity, self-expression and social participation while helping raise awareness and give greater visibility to people affected by brain tumors.


Every BGF GEETA Center has been designed as a place where patients can continue living beyond the hospital environment. A place where recovery is supported not only through specialized programs, but also through creativity, meaningful experiences, social interaction and everyday moments that help restore confidence, independence and quality of life.

Since 2021, Brains Get Famous Has Been Building an International Brain Tumour Research Programme

 Brains Get Famous Advances International Brain Tumour Research Studying brain tumour survivors, tumour behaviour, RNA data, and patients’ everyday lives to help advance international research. At Brains Get Famous , we are conducting an international research study focused on brain tumour survivors , the long-term side effects they experience, and the behaviour of their tumours . We place particular emphasis on understanding patients' everyday lives at every level, recognising that their experiences provide valuable knowledge for future medical and scientific research. As part of this initiative, we collect RNA data from patients around the world, facilitating research based on Real-World Evidence (RWE) derived from statistical analysis of real patient data. By combining molecular information with patients' lived experiences, our aim is to contribute to a better understanding of brain tumours and their long-term impact. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. José Luis de Palma for the valuable information he has provided regarding healthcare protocols, as well as to the volunteer glioblastoma patients , including Steph and Ariana , whose collaboration is essential to this project. These studies, which began in 2021 , also collect information about pre-diagnosis symptoms from Brains Get Famous brain tumour patients who have sadly passed away. Their testimonies, together with the invaluable information generously provided by their families, represent an essential contribution to advancing international research into the behaviour of this disease. Every patient story, every experience, and every piece of information collected helps us move one step closer to improving knowledge, supporting future research, and ultimately improving the lives of people affected by brain tumours worldwide.

Dr. Brogna succeeds our dear Teresa , co-founder of BGF, who now becomes an Honorary Member of the organization. We would like to express our deepest gratitude for her dedication, vision, and invaluable contribution to the foundation and growth of BGF. An internationally recognized neurosurgeon, Dr. Christian Brogna is widely respected for his clinical expertise and research, as well as for his commitment to improving the lives of patients with brain tumors. Beyond his professional achievements, he is an inspiring human being and a role model for our team and the patients we serve. Dr. Brogna has been part of Brains Get Famous since 2022 . Since the end of 2023 , he has served as Vice President of BGF Spain , and since April 2025 , he has also been Vice President of BGF USA , strengthening our international mission and expanding our impact across borders. The world lights up in blue in honor of brain tumor patients.

OCTOBER 14, 2023 — Cities around the world have been illuminated in blue as a show of support for people affected by brain tumors. This global initiative was launched in 2021 by filmmaker María de Kannon Clè and is supported by neurosurgeons Dr. Christian Brogna and Dr. Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa. Their respective nonprofit organizations, Brains Get Famous and Mission Brain, are leading efforts before the European Parliament and the United Nations to raise awareness of this disease and proclaim October 14 as the Global Day to Honor Brain Tumor Patients. According to an international study conducted by Brains Get Famous in collaboration with international research organizations, more than 400,000 cases of this serious disease are diagnosed every year. Once diagnosed, life expectancy is five years, and only 35.6% of those affected survive beyond this period. These figures decrease dramatically among children, as mortality is higher at an early age. Brain tumors are the second most common form of cancer among infants and young children. The first city in the world to illuminate a landmark was Málaga, whose City Hall was lit up in 2021. It was followed in 2022 by Madrid, through the Regional Government of Madrid; Mexico City; and Málaga once again. In 2023, Madrid, Málaga, and Mexico City repeated their illuminations, while Almería, Huelva, Seville, Terrassa, and Schoelcher in Martinique joined the initiative. Zaragoza and Rome also expressed their support through their city governments. In 2024, numerous cities around the world are expected to join this illumination initiative on October 14 in support of and solidarity with brain tumor patients. In addition to the cities mentioned above, Los Angeles, California; Chicago; Glasgow; Lisbon; the state of Chihuahua; and Acapulco are currently expected to participate. Today, we also want to celebrate with you that three friends of Brains Get Famous are defying survival expectations and shining a light of hope this October 14.
